Sisterhood by Astra de la Crème in London
Sisterhood
Watercolour and Ink on Paper.
The piece is called Sisterhood and is inspired in the painting The Two Sisters, an 1843 oil painting on canvas by the French artist Théodore Chassériau. The image shows two women connected by their hair and depicts the unbreakable bond between siblings.
Sisterhood is another homage to my family and the complex dynamics we have. The sun and bright colours represent my lively culture and the sun stands for positivity, clarity, confidence and power.

My work explores vibrant imagery depicting surreal patterns, geometry & natural elements like fruits, animals & flowers. I am specialised in ink drawing, semi-realistic and hatching techniques.
I am born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1985 and I am based in the United Kingdom since 2009. I graduated from Middlesex University with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2018. I am mainly working with acrylic, watercolour & ink and my practice is extremely detailed, producing hypnotic and intricate images.
I am interested in creating intricate patterns, characters & narratives and with a strong story telling background for over 10+ career as a visual artist, I am keen in collaborating with like-minded creative people.
