This piece was one of my most difficult pieces to make mentally, and I portrayed it through a difficult medium for most - oil pastels. It was the first self portrait of me in the present (at the time it was made), and I wanted to try out foreshortening. I was challenged to use my own body which seemed daunting for the period of life I was in, but I ended up really loving making it with all the colors I added and the textures of the pastels.
I am a college student currently studying Music Ed at Olivet Nazarene University. Previously studying Studio Art, I have taken college level courses for art throughout high school gaining awards for my pieces in events such as the Scholastic Art Awards and a finalist position in a local Fine Arts Showcase. I have a love of all things color, and enjoy excelling in all types of mediums, as I am a lover of learning! You will notice a lot of my portfolio pieces reside from my AP Portfolio, where I themed it on nostalgia and the use of color to demonstrate the emotion. I hope to inspire you with joy on your journey!
