Meet the Artist
Longford, IrelandPhil, a self-taught Irish Airbrush artist, stands at the intersection of creativity and mastery, seamlessly blending modern aesthetics with influences from sci-fi, mythology, and nature. Renowned for his detailed creations, custom designs, and large mural artworks, Phil exceeds expectations, leaving an indelible mark on the art, culture, and creative world.
Born in Dublin, Phil's artistic journey began with his grandfather's pencil drawings, sparking a love for creativity that would define his path. Encouraged by an art teacher at Ashfield College, he honed his skills with paint and colour, later delving into the world of tattoo artistry. However, it was airbrushing that captured his imagination, and through self-teaching, he mastered the intricacies of this artistic tool, carving a unique niche for himself.
In 2013, Phil completed a diploma in Art & Design at Longford College of Further Education, excelling in exploring various mediums and honing his skills. Embracing a philosophy of lifelong learning, Phil recognizes the ever-evolving nature of art and constantly seeks to incorporate new techniques into his work.
Phil's commitment to ongoing growth is at the core of his artistic philosophy. He believes that art is a lifelong endeavour and views each piece as an opportunity to tell a story, capturing the essence of people, places, or even inanimate objects. His attention to detail and mastery of airbrushing result in artworks that consistently evoke strong emotions.
Phil's work has gained national attention, particularly for his canvas creations, large-scale murals, and custom airbrush work on guitars, cars, and scooters. Exhibiting at various venues, festivals, and events, he has also received acclaim for his lantern/sculptural work and community art collaborations. Notably, his custom work for Emerald Guitars has adorned carbon fibre guitars for high-profile musicians, including American Country Music star Robert Mizzell.
Current Projects:
Continuing to push artistic boundaries, Phil is currently engrossed in exciting airbrushing projects in Ireland, a collaborative endeavour in the USA, and a large-scale mural project that will take him across Europe this year.
Phil Atkinson's art is not just a visual feast; it's a narrative, a connection to the soul of the subject, and a testament to the ever-evolving nature of artistic expression.
