Sacrifice of Isaac - work after Titian by Mateusz in Manchester

Sacrifice of Isaac - work after Titian

A massive work of oil on canvas of the late Italian Renaissance style by the great Venetian master Titian. The original is painted on cathedral ceiling and was executed whilst lying down, this particular rendition was the final work of my student days, for which I hand made vast cross stretcher bars, on which canvas was stretched and primed and then given a gesso ground which was then sanded several times to get a smooth surface. The actually execution was a pain staking 3 year process of painting with some of the regions having been done with several layers of glazing for truly glowing shimmer.
