Sa Caleta by Sofia Eckholt in Byron Bay
Sa Caleta
I was not expecting what I found at all, an
island with a warm, dry, sandy color
palette. I had never seen such a turquoise
sea, and how it contrasted with the yellow
stone created a kind of light of its own.
Depending on the time of day, the walls of
the earth turned reddish. But on a rainy
day, intense greens, fuchsia flowers, and
a humid breeze were activated from who
knows where.
This series is just the beginning of an
exploration of tones. I would like to delve
deeper in the future. It attracts my
attention; I feel it has something of the
colors of the Chilean desert... it would be
interesting to explore textures to
complement the colors.

Meet the Artist
Byron Bay, AustraliaMy art seeks to capture the essence of nature, the vastness of mountains, the flow of water, and the magic of light filtering through clouds. Through energetic and fluid brushstrokes, using a carefully selected color palette, my goal is to evoke the deepest emotions and transport the viewer to the same state of contemplation and emotional connection that I experienced in that place.
As a graphic designer, I researched color, light, and the effect that natural environments have on our brains. I have studied how the connection with nature, even through artistic representations, can trigger neural responses that generate feelings of comfort, tranquility, and happiness in people.
By using different materials, I create textures, colors, and shapes that evoke nature. My aim is to awaken a neural response that connects people with the serenity, inner peace, and profound connection to life that we find in natural environments, a concept known as Biophilia.
My works provide a window into these natural spaces, and my motivation is for the viewer to achieve emotional, mental, and physical well-being through them.
