Rise UP by Jessica Moon ARt in Boulder

The majority of my art is responding to the current geological age of the Anthropocene, which is the time that we’re living in now where human activity has been the dominant influence on our climate and the environment. The rise up mural that I created is influenced by my smaller mixed media work which does incorporate a lot of collage elements. The wheatepaste here acts as a metaphor for the ephemerality of melting arctic ice which sustains many species including polar bears. I created this mural to bring awareness to the impacts of climate change that will not be born equally or fairly between rich and poor, women and men, older and younger generations- but also to raise awareness for climate justice which looks at a climate crisis through human rights lens. I believe that by working together we can create a better future for present and future generations. Through my work I hope to inspire and remind audiences of what we have, as well as what we stand to lose if we do not take action."
