Reverie by Sam Lee in La Mirada
Reverie
Ink pen and watercolour on paper. The figure and the background are drawn as one continuous surface — hair dissolving into foliage, skin picking up the greens around it. The ink line carries the structure; the wash carries the mood. Available as a commission style in its own right. 18 x 24 inches.
Size: 18in (W) X 24in (H)
Meet the Artist
La Mirada, United StatesI'm Sam Lee — I paint portraits in oil, watercolor, and charcoal, always from photographs.
What keeps me in portraiture is the light a person carries. I paint it literally: scattered points of color around the subject, laid onto raw linen. Clients tell me the finished piece feels warmer than the photograph it came from.
Children, grandparents, wedding portraits, memorial commissions — across a wide range of ages and skin tones. Based in Los Angeles and Orange County, California.
SHIPPING & PICKUP
Free studio pickup at my La Mirada, CA studio — you're welcome to collect your finished piece in person at no extra cost. Works on paper (watercolor and charcoal portraits) ship anywhere in the United States for a flat $45. Oil paintings on stretched canvas ship within Southern California only (Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego and Santa Barbara) for a flat $55 — canvas on stretcher bars is bulky to crate, so I keep that delivery local for now. Pieces larger than 24 x 30 in are quoted separately.
