Rest in Paradiso by Alexis Steyn in Denmark

30”x 40” Oil and Mixed media on canvas ‘Rest in Paradiso’ was inspired by the allegorical and mythical artworks by Viennese artist Hans Zatzka. He often painted sensual female forms, nymphs, angels and popular motifs surrounded by natural environments. With so much inspiration drawn from his artworks, ‘Rest in Paradiso’ was created to reflect similar themes yet in a modern and otherworldly context. ‘Rest in Paradiso’ depicts a scene of peace and tranquility as a young woman rests on a bed of flowers on a lake in Springtime. The natural setting of the forest and lake that surrounds her is teeming with life and vibrancy. This artwork is representative of the wonders of natures creation and the potential relationship we could have with nature and the inner peace that it provides. Nature is a wonderful place to immerse yourself in and as we focus our attention more on the present moment, we are able to enjoy what is around us with open eyes and a deeper appreciation.
