Red Ring (Diamonds)

This painting is from my series of "Line Paintings" in which intricate patterns and subtle color relationships reveal beautiful imagery. This work was the first in the series in which I used the repeated diamond pattern to bring out a single larger shape - the ring. The form of the ring is revealed without the use of a single curved line. It appears solely because of color and value changes within the diamond pattern. The piece is a work on paper, adhered to a wooden surface.
