Chicago, United StatesKeinon-Pierre Basquiat is an American artist born and raised in Chicago, IL. Keinon found his love for painting when he discovered the art work of the late Jean-Michel Basquiat. Basquiat’s work resonated with Keinon, inspiring him to paint. Keinon carry’s the Basquiat name as a way of paying homage to the artist who’s impactful work saved his life while Keinon was battling severe depression and contemplating taking his own life during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Keinon paints in the style of neo-expressionism. Creating POWERFUL art pieces that touch on social injustice, Institutional racism, and violence within the black community. Keinon mainly focuses on these challenges in hopes to inspire change through the messages in his work, some bold and out there, and some hidden or obscured encouraging the viewer to look closer.
