Meet the Artist

My name is Gerardo and I am a self-taught Artist, since the age of three. At a very young age I have been fascinated with ‘’Old Masters’’ for example, Caravaggio, Michelangelo and Goya. Their breath-taking Artworks had made me study Fine Art at the Cedart INBA "National Institute of Arts" in Mexico City. There I specialised in Figurative Painting and Drawing Realistic Portraits, Hyperrealism and Illustration.
In the summer of 2012, I had the honour to exhibit my artwork with Jose Luis Cuevas, Leonardo Nierman Jose Sacal and Pedro Friedeberg. Also, I have participated in the National and International Art Competitions in which my artworks were shortlisted for two consecutive years out of three thousand participants. My artwork was presented in front of the Jury of the Figurative Art Competition at the MEAM (European Museum of Modern Art) in Barcelona Spain where currently this museum permanently preserves one of my pieces.
In 2015, I got my Fifth-place Title Awarded in Quixote De La Mancha Painting Contest at the Iconographic Museum of Quixote in Guanajuato Mexico. Following this, I also won Third Place in the Virtual Painting Contest "Realism in Painting " in Barcelona Spain. Nevertheless, my First-Place Award, I won in the Illustration Contest for Faber-Castel which gave me the skills to use various art materials as well as expanding my knowledge.
What captivated me the most was when I got chosen for the Portrait Art Competition in National Portrait Gallery ‘’BPP Portrait’’ in London, United Kingdom. Lastly, I won Third Place in the National Drawing Contest of Rodin in Mexico.
I do commissioned work on an individual basis, which I love. I enjoy having a project to focus on at all times, to give me motivation and goals. I like to keep in touch with the art community because it is a community where no matter where you live or whatever your background is, you can meet with like-minded people to interact
with and discus views ,exchange ideas, learn new skills, find new artists and see new exhibitions. In my spare time, I teach and inspire other artists by frequently uploading videos on Youtube.
I hope the relative work experience and my personal statement supports my determination on becoming a Fine Artist and being recognised worldwide. It is fair to say that since my childhood Art has been integral part of my life, from wining various Awards, working with astonishing, mind-blowing Famous Artists and to normal individuals who appreciate my hard work through commission basis. I love Art.
