Psique under the mystery empire by Deyichia in Zaragoza

Psique under the mystery empire

Digital illustration. Based on the sculpture "Psyché sous l'empire du mystère" Helene Bertaux (1825-1909). Psique enjoys darkness until she gets to find a secret, that's Eros' identity. Darkness is shown to her by the male perspective, but she challenges everything that she has been told not to know: this is the light that's represented by the lamp. The context of this sculpture is important, it's set in the late XIX. Women had started to vindicate their access to knowledge and thus, to the liberation from the mystery empire they had been set to. She's got wings in her head. Her mind has started to fly, but she hasn't done anything yet.
