"Comissioned project for Portum, the outdoor facade is inspired in the Nopal and Palma Chit native plants of the Riviera Maya. In the lobby is created a vase in the shape of an ocelot and Jade stones. Jade was very valuable in ancient Mesoamerica, it was also sacred imbued with concepts of abundance and life, which included water, corn and even the soul. Many of these beliefs originate from the Olmec region. Finally the dahlias that are endemic flowers of Mexico, sweet potato flower used to tell the ancient Mexicans and their different forms vary by the foliage that each one brings."
Melissa's artistic journey has been deeply intertwined with both art and design, leading to exhibitions at prestigious venues such as the Latin American Art Festival in California, Field Projects Gallery in New York, and various locations in Mexico and Colombia. Her latest art residency was at BEMA in Querétaro, Mexico, where she collaborated with a UK artist.
Inspired by sacred art and ancient cultures, Melissa's work explores the connections between the feminine psyche and the universe's magnificence. She portrays these themes through diverse media and contexts, utilizing techniques ranging from oil paintings to large-scale murals.
Her fascination with experimentation has led her to explore various techniques, including screen-printing, ceramics, textiles, paste, oil, and acrylic. Her most recent exhibition took place at The Holy Art Gallery in London, where she introduced innovative techniques and new proposals.
Melissa continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art, driven by her dedication to creating meaningful and impactful art.
