18 x 24, oil paint on canvas Painting commissioned by Dove for the Dove Self-Esteem Project 2023. The project was focused on the effects of social media on youth mental health. I had the privilege to speak about my painting and the negative effects social media has had on myself. Profound highlights these gorgeous flowers in the centre, with more fading into the background, turning darker and less pleasant. My painting shows how we focus on the beauty of our lives and others, only sharing the positive moments. These moments are what viewers are only shown, while negativity and pain is hidden in the background. Everyone has a dark side which is always hidden by the good, it is okay to share that sometimes.
