Time - 90 mins Materials: A4 paper or A3, pencils (B, 2B, HB), Erasers, Sharpeners, Mirrors. First 10 mins - Exploring portraiture and looking at past representation. Delving into how you can draw eyes, mouth, nose etc. 10 mins - (Demonstration) Showing them how to divide and measure the face 10 mins - Look at anyone on the table. Draw their eye. Draw their mouth. Draw their nose. Draw their ear. 60 mins - Drawing the person opposite you or yourself with a mirror. A full face. Remembering to measure first and look at everything in detail. Last 10 / 15 mins - Sharing / Discussion. Going through and critiquing artwork Homework - Choose someone in your life who you may not know very well. Ask them in further detail about themselves. The history, family background, job. Ask them about how they feel about these topics. Notice how when they speak their face changes constantly. Their eyes, mouth and nose move as they react to certain areas. Make note of this. What is the thing that struck you most about them? How do you perceive them? Where did they react? Did their nose scrunch? Did their pupils become dilated? Did their speech stutter in any way?
