Valeria Latorre is a visual artist based in the South of Italy. Her research is on water, it is expressed through hyperrealistic paintings, photography and video making.
Her work aims to show water in ways it is not usually seen, using different media to express the hidden faces of water. In the painting and photography work light and movement expose the shape of water revealed through image distortion.
In the video work dance and music express the physical features and rhythm of water.
Philosophy and science studies support the evolution of her research which is deeply influenced by Japanese Wabi Sabi aesthetics.
Self-taught artist with a scientific background. She believes Art and Science are deeply connected, continuous researches driven by inspiration and intuition and structured by studying and experimenting.
Her artistic research mainly focused on water compound. Exploring and expressing its wholeness from a scientific, philosophical and visual point of view, with a special attention to the interaction between water and light at a human perception level.?
