Portrait of a Housemate Yaelle by James Wilson in Toronto

Portrait of a Housemate Yaelle

Painted in Acrylic and Spray paint, this portrait was painted in Montreal during my stay. I painted several portraits of my housemates as I documented my time abroad.
Changing my approach from oils to acrylics was at first a bit of a struggle but after a couple studies I was ready to do some works that would build up to a collection. This was from a body of work titled “I don’t even know where I am anymore” painted across Canada and Australia, documenting the people I met while trying to learn more about my families roots.
