Portobello Road by Carys Wright in London

Carys Wright is a London-based illustrator and children's book maker working with corporate clients, publishers and brands - and drawing live portraits at events and market installations across the city. Her clients include Tottenham Hotspur FC, Pfizer's veterinary division Zoetis, and award-winning theatre company Clean Break. Her first illustrated book, The Curious Cat and the Lord Mayor's Show, was commissioned by the Lord Mayor of London's office and gifted to children across the City of London borough. Her original picturebook project The Day the Dragon Came was longlisted for the DPictus Unpublished Picturebook Showcase 2025. She is currently on Picture Hooks' Buddy Scheme, and previously won a mentorship with the PB Rising Stars programme in the US. As a live illustrator, Carys draws guests at events and brand activations in watercolour and pen and ink, producing finished portraits in around ten minutes. She also runs popular market installations selling printed goods made from her sketchbook pages. She lives in south London with her partner, toddler, and very bossy cat.
