I was commissioned by the subjects Mother to create this pencil portrait drawing of her son from a reference photo which she loved very much. Unfortunately, although she liked the drawing, she thought it made her son look "dirty and scruffy", so I did a fresh drawing which meant giving the subject a shave, haircut and a general tidy-up. She thought the second cleaned-up version was a great improvement and was very happy.
I used Winsor & Newton 170g/m2 80lb A3 cartridge paper and Tombow Mono 100 pencils with a little Daler Romney colourless fixative spray.

Southampton, United KingdomI am an experienced pencil portrait artist, i specialise in drawing ordinary people. My usual subjects are family members, loved ones, friends, old wedding photos, animals and pet cats and dogs. Once I even drew a goldfish.
My basic mantra is to do the basics well and let the drawing emerge.
