Past and Present - Landscape 2021 by Melanie Caple in Melbourne

This mural was commissioned by the Mirboo North and District Community Foundation to work with four students from Mirboo North Secondary College to transform this prominent wall in the main street of town. The wall had a colonial bush mural painted on it from the 90s that was fading, so I kept a segment of the old mural and used other elements of the surrounding landscape to depict on the wall and bring it into the contemporary realm - scarlet robin, Mirboo lily, Gippsland waratah and corymbia eucalyptus. I painted the Scarlet Robin and the shading on all of the leaves, and assisted the four secondary college students to paint the rest of the wall.
