Ortie by Stillo Noir in Geneva

Ortie

Near the lake and sitting right beside a castle, this mural for the Swiss town of Rolle aims to bring a little joy and flourish to a public restroom building and the parking lot it sits in. The design is inspired by ‘ortie’ (nettle) leaves, a local plant primarily known for stinging, but which also contains an array of useful medicinal properties. I find its ability to both cause harm and remedy it poetic, showing a complex contrast between its biting exterior and its soothing nature. Client: Service de la Culture de Rolle • Location: Parking du Château, Rolle, Switzerland
