Mural drawn up for a nursery set in John Lewis drawn in chalk for a child-like playful appearance, based on original drawings from my own childhood sketchbooks.
I often refer to myself as a Technical Artist, since graduating from Wimbledon college of art with a degree in technical arts and special effects I feel it best describes my working practice. As an artist I like to apply various techniques and working styles to create a final outcome.
Originally from the North West of England, Preston to be exact, I’m now based down in Bristol. Working as designer, maker and installations artist I’ve been lucky enough to work with some great companies in my career.
I create work such as props, puppets, costumes, sets and sculpture but also dabble in illustration for fun, as well as print and apparel. I have the opportunity to see designs go from illustrations on paper to bold fun objects in reality. As an Artist I enjoy working with many materials to draw, design, create, build, develop and finish props, costume, puppets, set and sculptures to excite the senses of any audience.
I love being able to change from one material to another working on various projects to keep my hands busy, no matter how messy the job. From painting to pattern making, murals to mold-making, fibreglass to fabrication, carpentry to craft, sewing to set dressing to mention just a few.
Working freelance enables me to pick and choose a whole array of work and recently I’ve even been applying my materials knowledge to boat renovation and maintenance work. Whether it’s for stage, a festival or someone’s home so long as it’s creative I’m up for the challenge.
