This large-scale oil painting explores the tension between organic and technological forces, portraying the brain as a living machine at the intersection of anatomy and technology. Inspired by an electron microscope image of sheep brain matter, the reference was digitally distorted to evoke psychological themes and historical models. The image, flipped and mirrored to resemble a Rorschach test, is rendered in ultramarine blue, drawing from fMRI imaging to evoke the visual representations of the mind. Spheres in alizarin crimson interrupt the monochromatic palette, introducing a foreign anatomical element within the psychological landscape. The process explores human and technological manipulation: the original image of organic matter was initially digitally transformed to achieve perfect symmetry, and upon painting, returned to an organic form through the natural imperfections of the human hand.
