Nourish LA by Chalavie in Los Angeles
Nourish LA
This Mural was commissioned by Nourish LA,a non profit organization that prevents food to go to waste and redistributes it to the ones in need. The founder asked me to come up with a mural for their container on site that they use to store all the material necessary for their food distribution every Sunday at a UCLA site. The mural represents the community involved and the work that they do from redirecting food from grocery store to picking fruit and vegetable from local gardens. It s located in a parking lot and facing a busy street. So the design had to be bold , attractive and carry the message of what they do as well as representing the many Volonteers working with them.
The challenge was that it s not the flat surface to paint on, so I had to think about that while designing the mural. Also the paint used is a paint meant for metallic surface. I asked for the container to be primed and coated with one of the color of the mural. The logos of this Non profit (which I designed as a previous project for them) and also of the host of the location (UCLA village) on the side of the container was mandatory for the organization.
