My students first time with gouache
This was a lovely still life that my student made whilst using gouache for the first time. He was instructed to take a selection of photographs in his free time, thinking about light and shade when working with the camera angles and a lamp to capture his chosen items for his composition. Using these photos as reference and after learning the properties of the medium, he began work on his piece. I was struck by how successful his first use of the paint was, even with my instruction and with his intermediate skillset in art.
The piece was completed over x4 1.5 hour sessions and he was rightfully very pleased with it!
Meet the Artist
London, United KingdomI am a London based painter, portrait artist and muralist. My work focuses on themes around nature, animals and symbolism and I am inspired by geometric and ethereal/ visionary concepts. I have a degree in Fine art and specialise in oil & acrylic painting, impasto and murals. I have taken part in group exhibitions, live art events, set design for short films and designed and created several large scale murals for schools and businesses as well as private commissions. Astrology is another subject I have studied for some time and shows up in various pieces of my work.
I believe that art is a very powerful form of communication and can be used as a therapeutic tool to help anyone achieve their greatest potential. For me, it is a tool I use for reflecting and exploring my outer and inner experience of emotions and the world around me, as well as a place I feel I can take up space! Giving this back to the community and teaching others how to express themselves in this way, makes me feel very fulfilled.
I have been teaching art to children and adults in private settings for 5 years and believe that my students charisma and freedom with their creativity has impacted the way I view and make art. I believe in putting 100% of my efforts and love in to every creative task I take on and get excited by opportunities that come my way.
