Mural for a Brooklyn Ice Cream Shop by MckennaVanKoppen in Santa Barbara
Mural for a Brooklyn Ice Cream Shop
This mural was created to bring color and personality to The Screen Door, a cozy ice cream shop in the heart of Brooklyn. Inspired by the fun, nostalgic feel of the space and the shop’s unique charm, I designed a piece that adds warmth, whimsy, and visual flavor to the environment.
Using a carefully chosen color palette pulled directly from the shop’s interior details, the mural seamlessly ties into the existing aesthetic while giving the space a fresh, dynamic focal point and an extension of the joyful experience of grabbing a scoop.
Meet the Artist
Santa Barbara, United StatesI’m a multidisciplinary artist based in Santa Barbara, California, working across a variety of mediums and subjects. My artwork is rooted in a deep appreciation for the natural world, with a focus on wildlife which is a theme that continually inspires my creative process.
From large-scale murals to detailed canvas paintings and custom commissions, I approach each piece with a balance of bold expression and thoughtful detail. I enjoy the challenge of working across different formats, whether it’s transforming a public space with a mural or creating a personal, meaningful work of art for a private collector.
My style blends realism and abstract, aiming to capture the essence and energy of my subjects. My work reflects a deep appreciation for nature, storytelling, and the emotional power of visual art. I continue to evolve my practice by embracing new materials and collaborations, always seeking new ways to inspire and engage through creativity.
