Hi, I'm Asiphe Manangana🎨 I'm a mural artist based in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, South Africa — but my roots run deep in Mdantsane, East London. I was born and raised in Mdantsane, the second biggest township in South Africa, right here in the Eastern Cape. That place shaped me. The colors, the stories on every street corner, the resilience of the people… it’s all in my paint. What inspires me Mdantsane taught me to see beauty where others overlook it. I’m inspired by everyday people, township culture, isiXhosa heritage, and the raw energy of communities that keep creating no matter what. I paint what I lived: struggle, joy, identity, and hope. Walls are my canvas because everyone deserves to see art that speaks their language, without needing to walk into a gallery. What I love about creating I love the moment a blank wall stops being background and starts telling a story. Mural art is public, bold, and impossible to ignore it belongs to the people who walk past it every day. I love mixing vibrant color with meaning, turning concrete into conversation, and watching kids point at a wall and say “that’s us.” There’s nothing better than leaving a piece of myself behind that outlasts me.
