Mumbai mosque out at sea, India series by Bec James in Melbourne

Mumbai mosque out at sea, India series

Mumbaii is one of my favourite cities in the world. It was my first stop in India. This image is from a visit to the Haji Ali Mosque that sits far off the coast. When the water rises to the bridge/walkway, it apppears as though the mosque is almost sitting on the water. Such a beautiful spot. This was from a spot on the 'female side' of the praying area, one of the quietest moments I remember in India, so peaceful. The beautiful family was having a really joyful time, which reflecetd my joy in this moment too, so I wanted to capture this in a photograph and I have painted it using oils. It was part of a solo show I had in Melbourne after my 6 months travels around India and South East Asia.
