Moston Lane Mural
Shutter mural, created using spray paint. Created for the client ‘Sick Project’ in 2023. This mural was co-designed with Moston local residents. I ran community engagement sessions in order to gather ideas and feedback from the surrounding community. I included their ideas for motifs such as plantain, and hair braiding in the final artwork.
Meet the Artist
Manchester, United KingdomHeather (she/her) is a community engaged illustrator and muralist based in Stockport. Her work plays with figures, bold colours, hand drawn typefaces and thoughtful compositions. She works across mediums from painting and printmaking, to large scale mural making.
She has experience in designing and painting numerous large scale murals for clients across the UK. Notably, one of the largest she has completed was a
mural for Cloudwater Brewery in 2023; which measured aprx 400cm in height and around 2500 in length.
Heather uses figurative, folk-like motifs combined with graphic shapes and painterly patterns. Her pieces often include depictions of togetherness, and community. Her work is punctuated with emblematic and decorative elements that carry hidden meanings or narratives––these stories often surrounding feelings of joy, and spiritual connections with nature.
She has previously been commissioned to design and facilitate mural making workshops, and public art workshops for clients such as Stockport Heritage Team, and Partisan Collective.
