Montreal Review of Books Fall 2024 Illustration by Oliver Gadoury, Illustrator & Designer in Montreal

Montreal Review of Books Fall 2024 Illustration

The Montreal Review of Books is a free, nationally distributed journal on English-language books by Quebec authors and publishers. In addition to its digital presence, a print edition is released three times a year by AELAQ. Each issue includes a commissioned illustration featured in the print publication, on the homepage of their website, and in promotional materials for the issue’s launch. The creative brief was open-ended, requesting an illustration loosely themed around reading, writing, books, or literature. For my piece, I focused on the concept of making time to read throughout everyday life—whether commuting on the metro, waiting in line, or cooking. It’s a reflection of something I’ve been thinking about personally, as I’ve been striving to reduce screen time and prioritize more meaningful activities, like reading, over scrolling through social media.
