I am Chaya, a contemporary artist based in the Surrey United Kingdom. Born in Sri Lanka to a family with respected publicists with a background in Batik Art, which partly influenced my artistic abilities. Since the age of 9, I used to watch and help my aunty decorate clothes with batik arts and I was inspired by those batik arts. As a business management graduate at the University of Sunderland, I have taken many different jobs to make ends meet. But she's never stopped working on my artwork. In 2018 I have made a bold change in my life and career to pursue my passion for arts. I'm working with acrylic, oil and mixed media. I'm using vibrant colours, brushstrokes and different techniques to translate different characters and angles into a canvas.
