Midsumma Festival Design by Loni Thompson in Edinburgh
Midsumma Festival Design
Through the use of the Rubik’s cube I've created a playful and interactive representation of the festival itself. The audience has the ability to personalise their experience and pick what interests them from the range of diverse and inclusive events. The festival is a melting pot, a place where communities find creativity and self expression
The concept included a suite of illustrations to be used across the festival collateral.
I created 4 alternate cubes to keep the overall festival branding fresh, engaging and allow for a fair representation of the 40 illustrations. The addition of clusters and solo cubes to the compositions creates a more dynamic and energetic design across all the assets.
Scope of work included program cover art design, printed passes and social media tiles & large format print advertising.
Meet the Artist
Edinburgh, United KingdomI am an Illustrator, designer and artist, you will find me illustrating digitally on my iPad, designing on my computer or working with a more hand drawn approach using pens and paint. My art practice is heavily inspired the natural world around me, wherever I am. I love to explore the many textures, nuances and details that are often overlooked.
My Illustration work is lighthearted and playful, i seek to spark joy, curiosity and wonder, something that makes you stop and think or have a little chuckle. I play with shapes and a range of subject matters, whether it be flowers and faces or typography and whimsical pizza machines!
Notable achievements include recently winning the 2024 Midsumma Festival cover art competition and winning the Young Henry’s x The Courty 2022 t-shirt design competition
