An acrylic portrait of young Lucy Pevensie from the Narnia series sneaking out at Midnight. I painted her emerging from the shadows into the light , adding to the sense of anticipation of where she is going, or what she is waiting for- all illuminated by the bright , warm glow of candlelight which i made as vivid as possible to bounce off the page. A portrait of youthful mischief, innocence and anticipation
Hi! I’m Lou, and i adore painting the intimate connections between humans and our world in vibrant colours, to put some extra in the perceived ordinary. Acrylics, ink and graphite are among my favourite mediums to inspire others to see the world through a different lens; one more fantastical and bright. I especially love painting portraits to truly capture the spirit of an individual, or theming them around something representing the subject. The sheer individuality of every person, humanity’s interpersonal relationships and relationship with our culture and environment is what inspires me. I’ve been able to exhibit my works at Visual Art Centre Singapore, Angelico Art Exhibit and at the Space Symposium at Colorado , as well as some online exhibits as a prize winner in the Bowseat Art Contest and Live On Festival. Such opportunities also came by from winning competitions like first place in the Singapore National Visual Art Contest, and having sold several personal pieces to private collectors.
