This was a team effort. I worked with Sway Jones of Atlanta Georgia to create this mural. I designed and painted the portrait, Sway did the background of the painting.
Melissa Mitchell is an Atlanta-based creator whose fashion has been sold in some major stores including Shien and Bloomingdales. She provided us with the photo reference and the quote and was ecstatic when she saw the final painting.

Albuquerque, United StatesI am an Albuquerque based artist who has been painting portraits, large and small, for decades. I got my start in portrait drawing commissions during my time in the Marines. After finishing art school in 2008, I leveled up to paintings, then got into murals in 2020.
Since my art degree is in animation, I can also do illustrative jobs. (Animation takes too long for my taste, so I don't do it anymore.) I have illustrated several children's books as well as a few coloring books over the years.
All in all, though, I prefer working on murals and commissioned paintings.
