Mark Twain with one of his beloved cats.
Mark Twain (Samuel Clements) loved cats. “When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction.” So this oil on canvas portrait of the humorist and America's most beloved authors shows Twain in his favorite chair with one of his many fur-babies, possibly either Blatherskite, Sour Mash, or Pestilence. For the portrait, one of my own feline friends, Simon Sez posed and is now forever memorialized and honored. This work was later recreated at larger than life size in a mural for what will soon be a writer's retreat under construction in Mathis, TX by renown mystery novelist, Laurie Moore.

Austin, United StatesDan is a national award-winning artist and photographer whose work is in the permanent collections of San Antonio’s Witte Museum and Museum of Art, the Alamo National Historic Site. Additionally Dan’s earned commissions by corporate and private clients including Apple, Dell, Microsoft, Walmart, Hilton Hotels, and scores more. Dan Terry’s painting and mural spark awe and evoke resonant moods by strategic use of color for emotional response in imagery that, while representational, vibrates with the energy inherent in everything.
