This work was created in 2022 at Lyons Shops in Canberra, Australia for Woden Community Services. It features imagery of local flora and fauna, including Eucalyptus and She-Oak trees, Wattle, Crimson Rosellas, Brown Snakes and Kangaroos. The work is influenced by folk art and children's illustrations, painted using exterior house paint and paint markers.
Meet the Artist
Sydney, AustraliaMimi is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Sydney, Australia.
Her work is primarily an abstract and process based practice grounded in drawing. Other 2D mediums such as painting, collage and printmaking stem from her works on paper. Her practice also widens to include various forms of public art such as installations, murals and assisting established street artists with community projects.
Her works are a combination of bright colours, gestural marks and playful shapes. They are informed by the imagery, emotions and sensory experiences from her everyday life - interesting textures, lights, smells, patterns or sounds. These observations generate an intuitive and uninhibited response that lead into the making process, working without an expected outcome.
