Henri Cartier-Bresson, on ‘The Decisive Moment’, best sums up how I feel about the art of photography: “Photography is not like painting. There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative. Once you miss it, it is gone forever.” My art is the documentation of these temporal moments, where for a transient split second I can choose to engage myself completely into what is transpiring before me. It’s the process of waiting, watching and acting. This then takes me on a journey into the soul of my subject to capture a unique connection, however close or detached, becoming a memory trigger for time immemorial. When people see my work I’d like them to feel that moment of shared emotion, intensity and experience. I am a searcher, a listener & a collector of moments.
