My approach to illustration is born out of a love of photography. I started my process of using pro-marker pen on paper to translate my favourite photos of family, friends and familiar surroundings at the beginning of lockdown 2020. Through social media my portraits and still lifes gained interest, which led me to start taking on commissions, using other people’s photographs to capture a likeness to the person or place depicted. I have been working as a freelance illustrator for over a year now and my work continues to evolve and develop in new and exciting ways. Having the opportunity to run a drawing workshop earlier this year hosted by Centrepoint UK gave me the chance to share my personal approach to drawing with young people, and to encourage it as simply a reflective process. I enjoy experimenting in various mediums and am always open to trying out new techniques and playing with the scale of my work. I love sharing ideas with people and seeing how art can evolve through collaboration.
