Lilly Lullaby by Ekaterina Belukhina in London

Lilly Lullaby

This project is a continuation of my study of the concept of woman power. As a woman, for a long time, I struggled to show my strength, constrained by a society where strength is traditionally considered a prerogative of men. Through this series, I seek to challenge these outdated norms and celebrate the inherent power and beauty of women. This project is semi-autobiographical. It reflects my personal journey and experiences, growing up in a world that often undermined female strength and agency. By reclaiming the narratives that have historically depicted women as passive or subordinate, I aim to recontextualize and reassert the strength that has always been an integral part of femininity. In "Nymph and Myths," I reframe these historical representations by giving them a modern twist. By integrating contemporary elements and my personal narrative, I aim to reclaim these depictions, emphasizing that beauty and strength are not mutually exclusive but rather complementary aspects of femininity. Through this reclamation, I foreground the agency of beauty back to females, asserting that women can be both powerful and beautiful without adhering to restrictive societal norms.
