The work was inspired by the traditional Swedish celebration of Sankta Lucia, a deeply symbolic festival that brings light and hope during the darkest time of the year. The image of a young girl dressed as Lucia, adorned with a wreath of candles, holding a single glowing candle, embodies resilience and warmth. The origin of the celebration, stemming from Saint Lucy of Syracuse in Italy, and its integration into Swedish culture with its unique customs and traditions, served as the perfect muse for this piece. The mystical beauty of snowy Scandinavian forests added further inspiration, creating a scene that merges cultural heritage with the serene wonder of winter.
