I’m Loz, a documentary photographer based on Victoria’s Surf Coast, photographing everything from weddings and family stories to community projects, brand work, artist stories and editorial assignments. For the past 16 years I’ve built my career around one simple thing: paying attention to people. My work sits in that space between observation and storytelling, where the quiet, unplanned moments often reveal the most about who we are. I’m deeply inspired by human connection, the way people support each other, celebrate, grieve, laugh and simply exist together. I work with people from all walks of life and aim to create a space where everyone feels safe, respected and seen, including queer couples, families and communities. Those small, in-between moments that often pass unnoticed are the ones I’m always looking for. I work intuitively, observing and letting things unfold naturally rather than forcing them into place. Over time I’ve developed a strong ability to read a room, anticipate moments before they happen and help people feel comfortable enough to simply be themselves. That trust is what allows me to create photographs that feel honest and grounded. Technically I understand light, composition and timing, but more importantly I understand people. Photography isn’t just about the camera or equipment. It’s about presence, awareness and recognising when something meaningful is happening. What I love most about creating is that photography gives moments a longer life. A photograph can hold emotion, memory and connection in a way that words sometimes can’t, and being trusted to document those moments is something I never take lightly. At the heart of it all, my work is about telling real stories, honest, human stories that reflect people back to themselves and the communities they are part of.
