Lake Monet Waterlily Fantasy Mural by dan terry in Austin

This commissioned mural is the result of a client who gave me as the artist free reign to create anything I thought would enhance and beautify an ugly cinderblock fence in the back yard pool area. So this is one of the rare murals where I could, like in my exhibition canvases, experiment, play and improvise the painting not on a preconditioned design, but on what the space itself inspired. A joy to paint in spite of the brutal summer heat of San Antonio Texas, and a most satisfying and delicious result. The scene appears to receed far into the distance and while realistic at a distance, close up, like Monet's large scale canvases, the free and loose brushwork is quite abstract.
