Kiss of Eden by Just an Orb in Ottawa
Kiss of Eden
This Procreate sketch was a study on shading methods. I took a picture of myself, used it as a reference, and used hashing, dotting, and various shades to create the depth.
Meet the Artist
Ottawa, CanadaAs a polymath with an eye for detail, painting and illustrating became a natural commitment for me for 15 years now.
As a painter and illustrator, my style is primarily surrealist and narrative, with an emphasis on conveying messages in an accessible, yet thought-provoking way. I often use elements of nature with elements of human ecosystems to illustrate their interconnectedness. I am also drawn to the contrasts of bold colours with mellow tones to bring funk and imagination, while channeling softness. I have worked on a few murals as part of a group and am looking for more experience leading my own projects in this area.
Additionally, I have worked as a workshop facilitator in recreational and academic spaces - this is my preferred way of engaging with the arts beyond working on commissions. I believe that people of all ages, would benefit from engaging in play in a group setting. My approach is to identify activities that suit the target audience, facilitate flexible styles of participation, and encourage curiosity over mastery.
