Itchy Tom, painted in 2023 on a 24X36 canvas using Golden brand acrylic paint. This fan art piece is a creative and humorous mashup of two iconic cartoon characters: Tom Cat from Tom and Jerry and Itchy from The Itchy and Scratchy Show. Tom and Jerry is a classic animated series that features the rivalry and slapstick comedy between a cat named Tom and a mouse named Jerry. The Itchy and Scratchy Show is a fictional show within the popular animated sitcom The Simpsons, which parodies Tom and Jerry by exaggerating the violence and gore between a mouse named Itchy and a cat named Scratchy. In this painting, I imagined what would happen if Tom Cat met Itchy, who is known for his sadistic and murderous schemes against Scratchy. I thought it would be funny to implement some of the violence from The Itchy and Scratchy Show, which would clearly horrify Tom Cat, who is used to more mild and harmless pranks from Jerry. I depicted Itchy holding a chainsaw, which terrifies Tom. This painting is a tribute to both shows and their influence on my childhood and sense of humor.
