A piece i painted for a national competition that won first prize; Human Hearts Extended reflects the silver lining of the pandemic- the unity of humanity. In these difficult times, many have risen up and extended a helping hand to one another, uplifting each other through volunteering, risking their health to help others, staying in touch with those who live alone or simply staying inside. This piece is a testament to humanity’s resilience and unity and sheer love for one another and for life as a whole. The hands represent this nature shining brightly against the darkness and bleakness of the times, keeping the beating heart of humanity alive, represented by the blooming flower which has petals fading away to form blue masks- a symbol of the people’s togetherness and perseverance to live another day and help one another.
