Henry portrait in graphite medium by Vince in Carlton
Henry portrait in graphite medium
Drew Henry in a hot pressed board using graphite pencils, I love how graphite pencils create the very fine details in any portrait piece. This artwork is part of my personal collection for gallery purposes, and is almost a year old.
Hello! My name is Vince, and I'm a Melbourne-based mixed medium visual artist with a focus on portraits and still life, and I utilise both dry and wet medium techniques. I have been capturing the essence of the facial expressions and mood of the portrait with my own artistic freedom since 2012, and have been a freelance portrait artist since then.
As much as I love experimenting and working with as many different mediums as I possibly can, the ones that I am most comfortable with are charcoal, coloured pencils, graphite, watercolour and oil paints. I am still working on my skills when it comes to soft pastels and acrylic paints, up til now.
I have exhibited some of my pieces and works in an art gallery back in the Philippines to get exposure, as well as I have done here in Australia, inclusively 2017-2018. Now I am focusing more on creating art content and pieces.
Portraiture and still life are the subjects I mostly focused on, as I love drawing and painting faces and capturing their expressions, thinking of it as a form of photography but using traditional art materials as the medium.
And as an artist, I take my inspiration from fellow creatives’ works and whatever I see around me, I see an expressive and aesthetic subject and I keep that in my head all day long until I draw it. It is quite important to stay inquisitive so the drive of learning and the flow of inspiration plus ideas keep coming.
