In May 2023 , I had the pleasure of completing this vibrant mural for a cozy storefront off 9th and Pearl St. in Boulder, CO. The piece was heavily inspired by Colorado’s breathtaking landscapes, especially the colorful wildflowers that emerge after the snow has melted, signaling the arrival of spring. I aimed to capture that sense of renewal and natural beauty throughout the mural.
One of the most exciting design choices was incorporating the building’s architectural features, particularly the window trim. I used the arch above the entrance to create a radiant sun, which fades into a soft, gradient sky, setting a peaceful tone for the storefront. This interaction between the structure and the artwork made the mural feel more integrated with the space.
Inside the shop, I added a playful touch by painting the HVAC unit to resemble a flowing river. I included Colorado’s state fish, the Greenback Cutthroat Trout, swimming through rapids, adding a local nod to the mural. I love how it brings an unexpected, whimsical element to the interior, adding to the store’s charm!
Hi! I’m Kailey, a professional muralist and fine artist based in Boise, Idaho. With over seven years of experience, I specialize in transforming spaces through large-scale public art and bold, engaging canvas work. My style is defined by vibrant color palettes, layered textures, and geometric patterns inspired by nature and movement. I strive to create visually striking pieces that bring energy, depth, and personality to the environments they inhabit.
I’ve completed more than 25 murals across the country, from large exterior walls and commercial spaces to community-driven school projects. My process is collaborative, detail-oriented, and rooted in strong design principles. I’m experienced in managing every stage of a mural project—from initial concept and client communication to scaling and execution on-site.
In addition to murals, I create fine art on canvas, primarily using acrylic and mixed media. My studio work often explores composition, pattern, and color in ways that reflect my love for both structure and spontaneity. I’ve also taught elementary art and led high school mural programs, which has allowed me to share my skills with younger generations and support creative growth in others.
Whether working on a public installation or a private commission, I bring professionalism, creativity, and a commitment to excellence to every project.
