Am super excited to be welcomed to this fantastic Chalk Art Festival for 2023 by @thegumbootcollective . So what book(s) rest in my heart? . I first discovered @brianandreas (Usa artist/storyteller) in a little gift store in Juneau, Alaska. I have a very distinct memory of being sprawled out on the floor, with all of his books & art work spread around me, completely in awe… I was currently in the thick of my dance career, but was also writing on the back burner. To see his way of marrying words & art together in his particular style that inspired and touched all of my emotions, I knew then & there, that’s what I wanted & was going to do! I adore every single one of Brians books, the catalyst of changing my life. ‘Still Mostly True: collected stories & drawings’, is where the story ‘Hard To Forget’ has been taken from… I hope you can feel a little of what I felt, when I first discovered his stories with my chalk recreation… (permission granted by artist & special friend, Brian Andreas) .
