HANAYA MASK by BALOR in Mumbai
HANAYA MASK
"Hello everyone!
This Hannya mask mural was created in 2024. At that time, we were planning to make a few murals around the city, but finding legal walls in India — especially in Mumbai — is a huge challenge. People often see wall art as random scribbles instead of real art, so getting permission becomes tough.
One day, a few of my friends and I went near the R.A. area searching for walls. While exploring, we came across a small village and decided to ask the locals for permission to paint. Luckily, they agreed and offered us this old, rustic wall — which turned out to be perfect for the Hannya mask.
The budget was super tight, around ₹3,000–₹4,000 including transport and materials. But despite all the challenges, we managed to bring this artwork to life — and that’s what made it special."
Meet the Artist
Mumbai, India"Hello everyone!
I’m a Mumbai-based graffiti and tattoo artist. The journey’s been quite something.
To give you a little context — since school, I’ve always loved drawing, sketching, painting… and yeah, Maths too!
I did my Bachelor’s in Computer Science and even worked in the corporate world for a while. But soon, I realized that if I stayed there, I’d lose my artistic side — so I quit.
Later, I learned tattooing at one of the most respected studios in Bandra. During that phase, I discovered my love for graffiti, murals, and other forms of street art. That’s when I started creating with my boys — and together, we’ve done some amazing projects.
Over time, I also developed an interest in videography — because being in the tattoo and mural world, you’ve got to show your art, your vibe, your story. Social media is part of the game now.
There’s no particular inspiration behind all this — the only goal is to keep creating great art, learn from every piece, and never stop growing.
Thank you — and keep creating."
