Greenpeace Mural by Michael Betts in Perth

Greenpeace Mural

This mural measuring 16m x 12m towered over Saint Geoges tce, in Perth. It was painted in conduction with Blankwalls for Greenpeace Australia. The brief for the design was very comprehensive in regard to sea creatures it had to contain but was open to interpretation. I really wanted to paint the whale as life sized and have the turtle bursting through the foreground to give the piece depth. The whole mural was hand painted with eco friendly paints that absorbs CO2. It took several weeks to paint and I employed a team of artists to help me with the base coats and marking up, but then finished it on my own. To date it remains the most rewarding mural I have had the opportunity to paint.
